Winning Treasury - Challenge #9

Some words from cindycolumbia1958......

Okay I did it...I feel sad though because there can be only one winner :(

As an artist I rarely get the opportunity to see how others perceive my art. Selling online removes most of the intimacy one has when you are face to face conversing with a person over your work. It is one of the drawbacks to internet selling because I miss out on how my art touches them…what feelings it invokes.

This challenge gave me a wonderful opportunity to be able to see with my own eyes the way others interpret my artwork. For me this was an incredibly enlightening experience that I feel totally blessed to have been given. The entries ran the full gamut from fun and whimsical to deep and moody. The stories that you developed were just incredible! I could see “my girl” as a flapper, a character in a mystery novel, a singer in a smoky jazz club as a princess etc and it was incredibly exciting to me. I was totally blown away by the imagination, thought and artistic talent of all who participated. As an artist I am very aware of color and there were items used in treasuries that appeared to be lifted directly from the palette used to create my piece. I realize how time consuming it is to find a perfect match and am humbled by the time spent by all of you to put these together.

To choose one winner was a daunting task. What criteria should I use? Beauty alone would not do it because if that were the case there would have been at least 100 winners! So I had to approach this from a different angle. I decided to go with things I personally like that were put together so well for in the end “my girl” is nothing but an extension of who I am. With that in mind I have chosen Abstract Peace of Mind... Holiday Gifts! By Sofisticata. Had I not known that my favorites are private I would have believed she went through them and picked them out and put them into her treasury! When I first saw it I actually laughed because almost every piece in that treasury is on my personal list or the shop itself is. Your treasury defines who I am and how I approach my life and my art... I adore some bling, love the colors used which are all in my print and hanging in my closet, and finally and most importantly my love of letters, history (vintage) and whimsy (humor). By so thoroughly defining who I am you have indeed interpreted my art to the nth degree. Thank you for this beautiful treasury and Congratulations on your well deserved win.
