NonTeam Item Tag

Let's see if we can make including nonteam members in our treasuries a little easier. (Including members isn't required, just a nice way to promote others.)

We're now using a new nonteam tag on our items each week. The tag will be nonteamchallenge and the current number, for example: nonteamchallenge 1. It's the same tag we use for our treasuries.

This will make searching nonteam members' shops super easy. If you're creating a white treasury for example, just search "nonteamchallenge 1 white" on etsy. All items with both tags will come up. You can search "all items" on etsy to be sure that our vintage and supply members' items come up too.

Since we're not a typical team and members come and go, we can't use just a single, permanent tag for our items. If we did that, someone may participate just once, use our item tag and never remove it. They'll receive the shop exposure while not participating. To avoid that, our tag will change every week to match the challenge number. We'll be promoting only shops that are currently participating.

Only use the tag on your items if you are creating a treasury in the CURRENT week. You don't have to wait until after you create the treasury. You can start using it just before the challenge begins.

You may tag only items that you think may fit the current theme, or tag all of your items. It's up to you. Just remember that you'll want to remove the tags next week if you won't be participating or you'll want to change those tags next week to the new number if you are participating.

You can change your tags just before the start of the next challenge if you plan to participate. Challenges always end on Sundays and start on Thursdays.

"Etsy on Sale" has a nifty Tag Tool to make editing tags easier. You might want to check it out.
http://www.etsyonsale.com/help/tagTool
It edits the last tag on all of your items or in a shop section in just seconds!
Edit: Etsy on Sale is now charging a fee to use their service. Everyone that already had an account received 5 free credits to start. It'll cost 1 credit for bulk tag editing. You can purchase 10 credits for $10, 20 credits for $15, 40 credits for $20 or 100 credits for $25.

Tagging your items is not a requirement for participation. It's just another way to hopefully receive some shop exposure in return for participating.

If you're making a Blitz treasury, this item tag will come in handy there too!

The list of participating shops will still remain on the sidebar of the blog. Having your link there is a perk of your participation. It's still a great way to see who's participating and check out the shops.

If you have any questions, just ask in our discussion page thread.

Isn't it great? It was FabricFascination that suggested using it. I'd never heard of it.

This is a GREAT idea I think though I will only tag one or 2 of my items so that members can find my shop... I can't really afford to give up one tag on each item...I love this idea... off to tag!

I'm just curious. Now that Etsy on Sale will be charging for their services, I will no longer be using them. Does anyone know of another site to bulk tag items for free?
